Old-world European design mixes with well-planned amenities in this trendy paradise.

Welcome to Las Catalinas

A trendy beach town with walkable streets and exclusive amenities

Old-world European design mixes with well-planned amenities in this trendy paradise. There’s no need for a car in everyday life because residents are just steps away from the beach, restaurants, and spas. Surrounded by an expanse of protected forest, Las Catalinas has an exclusive feel to it, making it a highly sought-after home for ex-pats and retirees.

Las Catalinas was developed in 2006 using New Urbanist ideals. Picturesque views are readily available throughout the town. Even the lush plazas between villas have been carefully planned to please.

The villas themselves are just as gorgeous as the rest of the town. Modern kitchens, ocean-view pools, and charming design elevate these homes. They’re spacious, conveniently located, and perfect for residents seeking a permanent vacation-style life.

What to Love

  • Car-free streets make Las Catalinas convenient and walkable
  • Charming European architecture mixed with modern amenities
  • Luxurious restaurants and spas
  • A thousand acres of untouched forest to hike through

Local Lifestyle

There’s a peace that permeates the air of Las Catalinas. The type of feeling that comes from living in one of the most beautiful towns, with adventures to be had and luxuries to enjoy. This feeling is what draws many expatriates, remote workers, and even retirees to its charming streets. It’s an hour's drive from the airport and equidistant between both New York and LA, making it perfect for the town’s international residents.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Pots & Bowls is an outdoor restaurant with simple, healthy fare. Get a cappuccino and an acai bowl or a burger and a cocktail and enjoy your meal in the sun and fresh air. For a spectacular night out, Sentido Norte is the iconic restaurant of Las Catalinas. CNN named it one of the world’s most romantic restaurants. It has killer sunsets, and every bite diners take is a celebration of Costa Rican flavors and culture.

Things to Do

Rest and rejuvenate with the tranquil environment created by Wake Day Spa. With an incredible menu of services ranging from sports massages to pedicures and waxing. They have a coffee bar and bright decor that transforms this casual space into a true urban spa.

Las Catalinas is surrounded by an expanse of protected forest. There are biking and hiking paths that wind through and offer many beautiful hilltop vistas and hidden pockets. Casa Chameleon is the hub for many of the area’s adventures. They offer horseback riding, catamaran tours, and deep-sea fishing. They also have a Diria Coffee Tour that takes you to more rural parts of Costa Rica to experience some of the best coffee in the world right where it’s grown.

Schools

For families, there are several prime schools nestled along the coast to consider. For some towns, they are just moments away. However, even in the more secluded beach towns, a stellar school is no more than half an hour’s drive.
